Foundry Artists Show
The Foundry Artists Show is an annual show that happens for the Holidays in early December. The Foundry Artists Association, which started 25 years ago in the Foundry Building In Providence, RI, hosts the show annually. It is a cooperative of over 60 artists that volunteer and run the show. Artists of many genre come together to put on a very well attended show in the heart of Pawtucket Rhode Island. Some of the types of art include Ceramics, Handmade books, Fiber, Hats and Handbags, Organic food and Body Products, Giftware, Home accessories, Glass, Jewelry, Mixed Media, Painting, Print Making, Collage & Illustration, Photography, Wood & Furniture, and much more.
When real estate prices explode in Providence, the owners of the Foundry Building, formerly the Brown and Sharpe factory, found a new use for the building as luxury condos, and hotel. The foundry artists kept the show going, and moved to Pawtucket where it is nhas found a new home in the Arts Exchange, in a former Rhode Island National Guard Armory.
The move to Pawtucket for the Foundry Artists Show has been both a boon to the show and to Pawtucket. The city of Pawtucket has been a large help to the show, as well as the show bringing thousands of people into downtown pawtucket every year. The city was able to help the show in its early transitional period, in ways that most cities, or communities would not be inclined. You can find out more about this great show by watching Pawtucket Rising, or going to the show's website.
